II. Summary
England was late in colonizing the new introduction and its first permanent English village wasnt naturalized until 1607. Sir Walter Raleigh and numerous others saw the colony as a place for the poor as well as a place to find gold, produce wine, and collect timber. The path though the Pacific was taken in 1606 by the Virginia Company with ships: Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery. Upon the Susan Constant, a John smith annoyed a higher-up and universe accused of plotting an insurrection was sentenced to death, which was delayed until arrival.
When anchor dropped April 26, 1607 at ness Henry, a document with the companys instructions was brought out. The septette members of ruling council were six men of social prominence and a certain John Smith! Thus Jamestown came into being. Half of the colony died that summer from disorder, spoiled food from the voyage, and looking for gold kinda of gathering food. Since so many settlers were gentlemen, too few settlers worked.
The come in one threat of the colonies was betwixt Indian attack and disease with starvation. Neither the Indians nor Englishmen felt secure with the other.
The Christmas of 1607 brought the famous dilemma between John Smith and the Indian chief Powhatan. There be two different accounts of the matter with one non level mentioning the chiefs daughter Pocahontas, and the other having her save Smiths life. Either way Smith was freed from imprisonment and had stronger abilities with trade, make Powhatan crave peace.
The summer of 1608 brought the notion He that will not worke shall not eate. Since tragedy happened at every corner, Smith wanted everyone to help the colony endure.
