Peter Beyer was born on May 9, 1952 in Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany. He is a German professor for Cell Biology at the University of Freiburg (Peter). He has written about 70 original research articles and, unitedly with Ingo Potrykus, invented Golden rice ( professor). Both Beyer and Potrykus share the analogous mission to promote the use of the Golden Rice engineering science and share it freely with resource-poor farmers in the developing world (Prof).
Golden Rice was developed to prevent a vitamin-A need in the poor and disadvantaged developing countries (Potrykus). Provitamin A accumulates in the grains of the Golden Rice because of a genetic transformation. This Provitamin A bequeath provide nutrients to those that live in areas where a vitamin A privation prevails. A vitamin A deficiency stick out be a major source of morbidity and mortality worldwide (Golden). The deficiencies mainly affect children which impair their immune systems and normal development. This can cause disease and ultimately death. One of the best ways to avoid this deficiency is to overhear a varied diet (Golden). However, a varied diet is not eternally an option for those living is poor countries. Nutrient-dense staple crops are a way to prevent deficiencies for these countries.



This is where the Golden Rice comes into play. In countries with rice-based diets, the absence seizure of beta-carotene in rice grains can cause blindness, disease susceptibility, and ill-timed death of small children (Golden). In Golden Rice two genes have been inserted into the rice genome by genetic engineering which leads to the production and accumulation of beta-carotene in the rice grains (Golden).
