As the natural changes from the old to the new occurred, its place in the culture continued to go unrecognized, but only temporarily. As modernity of Latin American countries moved forward in the more expected and tralatitious areas of commerce, economics, industrialization, technology, and socialization, football was inevitably drawn into its circle of influence. This influence and modernization of what was at one time a sport considered more an art form, raised football to the level of an essential cultural identity unique to Latin American countries.
Before every notions of modernity made its way onto Latin American soil, the way of life for the people was outdated and behind the times. Unpaved and snug roads were the sights that lined city interiors.
